Fleetwood Grobler is an Executive Director on the Sasol Limited Board and is Sasol’s President and Chief Executive Officer. He was appointed 1 November 2019. Based in Johannesburg, South Africa, Fleetwood is a proven leader with 35 years experience across many of Sasol’s key functional and business areas. Together with Sasol’s executive team they are transforming the Group to re-emerge as a sustainable and value-based growth enterprise delivering value to all its stakeholders.

He assumed the role at a significant juncture in the Group’s history – a point when the Lake Charles Chemicals Project (LCCP) was nearing completion which significantly increased our chemicals capacity in the United States. His appointment also came at a time when Sasol launched work to clearly define its sustainability approach. Since then, Fleetwood has set a new direction for Future Sasol, recognising the important role the Company can play in the global transformation to a cleaner environment.

Prior to his appointment, Fleetwood was Executive Vice President of Sasol’s Chemicals Businesses, based in Germany. His focus was on its overall global performance, including the development and implementation of key focus areas in support of Sasol’s valuebased strategy. In April 2019, he took on the additional responsibility of progressing the execution of the LCCP – including business-readiness preparation of the project.

Fleetwood’s association with Sasol began as an engineering student in the early 1980s when he received a Sasol bursary before joining the Group in 1984. Since then he has worked at most of Sasol’s operating facilities worldwide aquiring exposure to a broad range of business activities and gaining extensive experience in Sasol’s international businesses.

In March 2010 he was appointed Managing Director of Sasol Olefins and Surfactants (now part of the Chemicals Business), based in Hamburg, Germany. Under his leadership, he stabilised the business following a significant turnaround process and set it on a path of solid growth and enhanced performance. He was appointed to Sasol’s Group Executive Committee in December 2013.

Mr Brad Griffith is Executive Vice President, Chemicals, based in Houston, Texas, United States and is responsible for Sasol’s Chemicals Business globally. Brad is positioned to lead a diverse and global team that connects Sasol’s unique chemistry with customers and partners to create value and develop innovative solutions for a sustainable world.

He is responsible for maintaining safe, reliable and sustainable operations across multiple geographies, driving customer-led growth through innovative marketing and product development and extending sales. Brad was appointed to the Group Executive Committee in November 2019. Prior to this appointment he was Senior Vice President for Sasol’s Performance Chemicals business from 2017 to 2019 and Base Chemicals business from 2014 to 2017. His Sasol career began as an Engineer with Vista Chemicals/Condea (later acquired by Sasol) in Lake Charles, Louisiana, United States. During his nearly 30 year career with the Group he has held various positions and leadership roles in the United States, Europe and South Africa.

He is a Director of several companies in the Sasol Group and has served as a Board member of both the South African Chemical & Allied Industries’ Association and American Chemistry Council.

He endorses Sasol’s group-wide stakeholder focus, including overseeing relationships with several key external stakeholders, customers and industry trade associations.

As Executive Vice President, Energy Operations, based in Johannesburg, South Africa, Mr Bernard Klingenberg is responsible for maintaining safe, reliable and sustainable operations of Sasol’s entire Southern Africa operations portfolio. This comprises all downstream operations and related infrastructure.

The portfolio includes South African-based operating facilities including Sasol mining, Secunda Operations, Regional Operations and Asset services based in Secunda, Sasolburg and Ekandustria Operations, Natref – Sasol’s joint-venture inland refinery with Total SA, as well as Research and Technology, Projects and Engineering.

He was appointed to the Group Executive Committee in April 2009 and for the first two years of his tenure was responsible for Group Human Resources.

Since joining Sasol, he has held various management positions in maintenance, technical and general management in the South African Energy and global Chemical businesses. From April 2007 to March 2009, Bernard was Managing Director of Sasol Polymers and prior to that Managing Director of Sasol Nitro. He is a director of several companies in the Sasol Group.

As Executive Vice President for Human Resources and Stakeholder Relations, Charlotte Mokoena is responsible for the design of global strategies, policies and frameworks that enable the organisation to attract, develop and retain key talent. She is also focused on safeguarding and building strong national stakeholder relations, as well as designing strategies to protect and manage Sasol’s brand and reputation. Charlotte was appointed to Sasol’s Group Executive Committee in February 2017.

From her early days as a nursing student to the demanding pace of global soft drinks producer Coca-Cola, charting and defining new ways of working in agri-processing as Tongaat Hulett’s Human Resources (HR) Executive and connecting employee-experience with brand purpose as Chief of HR and then Managing Executive, Customer Experience Management and Global Services at Telkom South Africa, Charlotte’s remarkable career has transcended industries, portfolios and traditional silos that often lead to a disconnect between employees, stakeholders, culture and business objectives.

Charlotte’s deep and wide experience spans over 20 years, in Strategic HR, Organisational Capability Development, Leadership Development, Stakeholder Relations, Corporate Reputation Management, Customer Experience Management, Corporate Social Impact (CSI), and Management Consulting, as well as Not-for-Profit sector.

Charlotte is former President and Chairman of the HR Professionals Association as well as Non-Executive Chairperson of Sasol Inzalo Public and Sasol Inzalo Public Funding, a member of International Women’s Forum South Africa, a member and Deputy Chairman of the North West University Business School’s Advisory Board and co-founder of Non-Profit organisation - Care Carers. She is also a motivational speaker, mentor and Executive Coach.

Mr Marius Brand is Executive Vice President, Sasol 2.0 Transformation. He is responsible for the Sasol 2.0 programme - the group-wide transformation programme positioned to achieve the Future Sasol strategy.

Marius’s association with Sasol began as a student having received a Sasol study bursary. During his career he has worked at most of Sasol’s South African operating facilities. He has been exposed to a broad range of business activities, including roles in plant operations, project management, establishing transactional and site shared services, managing Sasol businesses, heading Group strategy and other Group functions, and leading several group-wide transformation programmes. He was appointed to the Group Executive Committee in April 2019.

Paul Victor is an Executive Director on the Sasol Limited Board and is Sasol’s Chief Financial Officer. He was appointed 1 July 2016. Paul is a member of the Capital Investment Committee.

As Chief Financial Officer Mr Victor is accountable for Financial Reporting, Corporate Finance and Business Development, Information Management, Group Treasury and Funding, Global Taxation and Insurance Services. With extensive experience in strategic planning, Mr Victor is responsible for supporting the Board in decision-making and effective capital allocation by budgeting, forecasting and presenting of scenario analysis.

Mr Victor was appointed Acting CFO of Sasol for the period September 2013 to March 2015. During this period he was instrumental in implementing a cost containment programme which was aimed at saving R5,4 billion by 2018. He also provided thought leadership and proactively supported the Group Executive Committee in implementing a cash conservation response plan in reaction to the significant drop in the crude oil price.

Prior to this appointment, Mr Victor gained invaluable experience during his ten year tenure as Chief Financial Officer of Sasol Synfuels - a position he held until 2011. He was then appointed Group Executive, Finance, reporting to the Group’s Chief Financial Officer responsible for the Group’s financial governance and reporting.

Mr Victor is a qualified Chartered Accountant and completed his articles at PriceWaterhouseCoopers in 1996. He has held numerous managerial positions in the gold mining sector, both in South Africa and Canada.

Ms Priscillah Mabelane is Executive Vice President, Energy Business, based in Johannesburg, South Africa and is responsible for upstream and downstream gas activities as well as distribution, marketing and sales of liquid fuels in Southern Africa. She is leading strategy formulation for the Energy Business which will support and steer a stakeholder-centric approach in spurring sustainable growth. In addition, she is responsible for securing new gas supply and delivering renewable energy solutions to support Sasol’s climate change roadmap efforts.

She was appointed to Sasol’s Group Executive Committee in September 2020 when she joined from BP Southern Africa (BPSA), where she was Chief Executive Officer. Directly prior she was Retail Operations Director for BP UK’s retail business and preceding this she was BPSA’s Chief Financial Officer for four years.

Priscillah has broad international leadership experience and a solid corporate track record of successfully leading and enabling transformation in large functions and operations in both United Kingdom and South Africa. She has served as Non-Executive Director on the Board of South Africa-based Standard Bank Group Limited and Vodacom (Pty) Ltd.

As Sasol’s Executive Director and Executive Vice President: Strategy, Sustainability and Integrated Services, Mr Vuyo Kahla is responsible for Portfolio Strategy and Sustainability; Legal, Intellectual Property and Compliance Services; Assurance Services (incorporating Internal Audit, Forensic Services and Combined Assurance); Group Risk and Safety, Health and Environment; and Company Secretarial Services He was appointed to the Group Executive Committee on 1 January 2011. He is Chairman of Sasol South Africa Limited and Sasol Mining (Pty) Ltd.

Prior to joining Sasol in December 2010, he was Group Executive: Office of the Group Chief Executive at Transnet SOC Limited (Transnet). He had executive responsibility for Legal Services, Risk Management, Compliance, Company Secretarial Services, Strategy and Business Modelling, Corporate and Public Affairs as well as Public Policy and Regulation. Before joining Transnet, Vuyo was a member of the Africa Executive Committee of the Standard Bank Group and served as the director responsible for Legal Services and Corporate Governance.

He previously served in a number of roles in the Government of the Republic of South Africa, including as Assistant Legal Advisor to President Nelson Mandela; Director: Transformation and Corporate Strategy for the Department of Justice; Special Advisor to former National Director of Public Prosecution,Mr Bulelani Ngcuka; and Chief Legal Advisor to the National Treasury and former Minister of Finance, Mr Trevor Manuel. The World Economic Forum recognised him as a Young Global Leader and he is analumnus of the University of Cambridge’s Prince of Wales Programme on Sustainability Leadership. He is the former Chairman of the Council of Rhodes University, South Africa and a former member of the Audit Committee of the South African Revenue Service.
